Prestige Points were once a coveted currency in League of Legends, used to unlock rare Prestige Edition skins. These special versions feature golden designs, unique animations, and are highly sought-after by collectors. But as of recent years, Riot has phased out the Prestige Point system in favor of a new model.

The Original Prestige Point System
From 2018 to 2021, players could earn Prestige Points by:
- Completing event passes
- Opening loot capsules and bundles
- Purchasing bundles that included Prestige Points directly
They could then be used in the Prestige Shop to unlock select skins such as:
- Prestige K/DA Kai’Sa
- Prestige Project Irelia
- Prestige True Damage Qiyana

The End of Prestige Points
Riot retired Prestige Points in 2021, transitioning to a Mythic Essence system. All remaining points expired in May 2022.
How to Get Prestige Skins Now
Today, you can unlock Prestige skins using Mythic Essence, which can be obtained by:
- Opening Hextech chests
- Completing event milestones
- Buying with event tokens
- Occasionally from mission rewards
Prestige skins are now part of the Mythic Shop, and rotate regularly. Some older Prestige skins may return during special events.
