How to Screenshot on League of Legends

Updated: 5th April 2025 1 min read

Capturing in‑game moments in League of Legends is quick and built right into the client—no third‑party tools required. Here’s the fastest way to take, locate, and share your screenshots.

Use the Built‑In Screenshot Key

By default, pressing F12 during any match saves a high‑resolution PNG of your screen.

Screenshots are automatically stored in your League of Legends installation folder:

Customize Your Keybind (Optional)

If F12 conflicts with another function on your keyboard, you can change the screen shot shortcut:

  1. Open the League client’s Settings (gear icon).
  2. Navigate to Hotkeys → Interface.
  3. Find Take Screenshot, then assign a new key.

Alternative OS Methods

For greater flexibility—or to capture your desktop outside of League—you can use operating‑system shortcuts:

  • Windows: Press Print Screen (captures full screen) or Win + Shift + S (select region)
  • macOS: Press Cmd + Shift + 3 (full screen) or Cmd + Shift + 4 (select region)

Tips for Cleaner Captures

  • Hide the HUD: Press Ctrl + Shift + F to toggle off all UI elements before snapping.
  • Use Replays: Replay mode lets you freeze and capture epic moments you missed live
  • With these simple steps, you’ll never miss a highlight—or a hilarious bug—on the Rift
