If you’ve been racking up S-ranks in League of Legends, you’ve probably seen Marks of Mastery in your loot tab. But what exactly are they for — and how should you use them?
What Are Marks of Mastery?
Marks of Mastery are loot tokens earned when you:
- Achieve an S-, S, or S+ rank with a champion you already have at Mastery Level 6
- You’ll get one token per S-rank game, up to two total (to reach level 7)
They cannot be crafted or purchased — they must be earned through high performance.
How to Use Marks of Mastery
You’ll need these items to upgrade a champion from:
- Level 5 to Level 6: 2 tokens + champion shard OR 500 Blue Essence
- Level 6 to Level 7: 3 tokens + shard OR 600 Blue Essence
You can redeem them through the Loot tab under the “Upgrade” section. Once upgraded, your champion’s profile displays a new mastery level badge.
Should You Save or Spend Marks?
If you’re confident with a champion and consistently perform well, it’s worth investing your tokens. Higher mastery levels:
- Show off your skill
- Offer profile prestige
- Sometimes unlock exclusive emotes or loading screen flairs
If you’re unsure, hold onto them — they never expire.
