Valorant fans may remember the name Deadeye from the months leading up to Episode 3 Act 3. At the time, Riot Games teased a mysterious French marksman through trailers, cryptic posts, and even map Easter eggs. Known only by the codename “Deadeye,” this agent was speculated to be everything from a new Duelist to a hybrid sniper. The reveal eventually came in November 2021: Deadeye was none other than Chamber, Agent 17, Valorant’s stylish and lethal Sentinel.
Who Is Deadeye (Chamber)?
Deadeye served as the internal and teaser codename for Chamber during development. Early hints described him as an assassin-for-hire, combining mechanical precision with deadly custom weapons. His refined, French-inspired design quickly became a subject of community hype and speculation.

In Patch 3.10, Riot officially introduced him as Chamber, Valorant’s fourth Sentinel after Sage, Cypher, and Killjoy. Unlike his peers, Chamber was built around precision gunplay, blending Sentinel utility with Duelist-style lethality. His unique kit allowed him to lock down sites while also taking over rounds with his marksmanship.
Chamber’s Abilities
Chamber’s abilities reflected the sharp, calculated persona first teased as Deadeye:
- Trademark (C): Deploys a trap that scans for enemies and creates a slowing field.
- Headhunter (Q): A custom heavy pistol that can be aimed down sights.
- Rendezvous (E): Teleport anchors that let Chamber reposition instantly.
- Tour De Force (X): A custom sniper rifle capable of one-shot kills, leaving a slowing field on elimination.
Together, these abilities gave Chamber a unique mix of map control and firepower—making him a Sentinel who could duel like a star fragger.
The Legacy of Deadeye
While “Deadeye” never appeared as Chamber’s final name, the codename remains iconic in Valorant’s history. Riot’s teasing strategy—through cinematic hints, blogs, and in-game references—turned Deadeye into one of the most anticipated reveals in the game.
Today, Chamber continues to play a significant role in Valorant’s meta, especially in pro play where his utility and precision shine. But for longtime fans, he’ll always be remembered as Deadeye—the codename that built the mystery and hype behind one of Valorant’s most stylish agents.
