In League of Legends, club tags offer a simple yet effective way for players to showcase their group identity. Displayed directly next to a player’s Summoner name in-game, a club tag allows a group of friends, teammates, or fellow enthusiasts to represent their shared interests and affiliations with pride. Here’s a breakdown of how the club system and tags work.
How to Create and Set a Club Tag
The process of getting a club tag begins with either creating a new club or joining an existing one.

You can access the club system through the social panel or the club menu on your profile.
- Eligibility: To be able to set a custom tag, your club must have at least five members. This requirement ensures that the tag represents a group of active players rather than just a single person.
- Setting the Tag: Once your club has at least five members, the club owner can set the tag by following these steps:
- Click the gear icon (settings) in your club’s menu.
- Select the option to create or set a tag.
- Enter a tag that is between 2 and 5 characters long, is not already taken, and does not contain profanity.
- Displaying the Tag: After the tag is set, it will automatically appear next to the Summoner names of all club members who have chosen to display it.
Managing Your Club Tag
- Changing a Tag: It’s important to note that once a club tag has been set, it cannot be changed. The only way to get a new tag is to delete the club and create a new one.
- Club Limits: A player can be a member of up to three clubs at a time, but they can only be the owner of one club and can only display one club tag at a time.
- Hiding Your Tag: If you want to temporarily hide your club tag, you can easily do so by going to the club tab in your profile.
Club tags add a sense of camaraderie and belonging, allowing players to represent their communities and teams with a visible symbol that connects them on the Rift.
