How to Lock the Camera

Camera control is a fundamental part of playing League of Legends. Some players prefer a locked camera—especially beginners or high-mobility champions—while others play unlocked for full map awareness. Here’s how to enable camera lock and when it makes sense to use it.

How to Lock Your Camera

There are several ways to toggle the camera lock feature:

1. Hotkey Toggle

• Press Y (default keybind) to toggle between locked and unlocked.
• You can change this in Settings > Hotkeys > Camera Control.

2. Permanent Lock

• Go to Settings (ESC) > Camera > Enable lock camera mode
• Choose from different modes: Fixed, Semi-Locked, or Per-Side Offset

Why Use a Locked Camera?

• New players often find it easier to track their champion without worrying about panning.
• Champions like Singed, Garen, or Annie benefit from fixed views due to simpler playstyles.
• Some ARAM and support mains prefer locked views to focus on their positioning near allies.

Limitations of Camera Lock

• You’ll struggle with map awareness, especially flanking enemies or jungler tracking.
• Champions with long-range skills or mobility, like Ezreal or Lee Sin, are harder to play with locked view.
