- The package arrives via email as a secure download.
Limitations
While Riot offers ways to access logs, there are notable constraints:
- Completeness: Only penalty-related logs or those retrieved through a formal data request are available. Routine match chats are not permanently archived.
- No In-Game Access: There’s no client button or menu to scroll back through past conversations. Once a match ends, its chat history vanishes.
- Delayed Access: Data requests take time, meaning you won’t get instant retrieval of recent chats.
This means that for most players, the ability to casually review past in-game conversations simply doesn’t exist.
Workarounds
Because Riot’s systems don’t store everyday chats for easy access, some players turn to DIY solutions:
- Screen Recording: Streamers and content creators often capture entire games—including chat—using OBS or other recording software.
